The AFE (Spanish Flute Association) organises a flute competition for your European players.

4-31 May 2020

  • The 1st EUROFLUTE Solo Competition is open to European flute players or those who are studying in European universities or music schools during the 2019 – 2020 academic year.
    Participation age range: 18 to 26 years old. (It is necessary to be between 18 and 26 years old on 17 May 2020).
    1. SELECTIONPROCESS
    The full selection process will be done on the www.muvac.com web platform. The first round will be carried out by the following artistic advisors:

The jury’s decision will be final and cannot be appealed.

1.1. First round
All videos received will be evaluated by the artistic advisors in the first round, and must be sent in before 17 May 2020 at 23:59 CET. A maximum of 20 participants will be selected to qualify for the final stage and they will be evaluated by the jury. The finalists’ videos will be published on our website (www.euroflutecompetition.com) and on the EUROFLUTE Online Competition social media pages. All participants, both those selected as well as those who are not, will receive an email containing the results.

1.2. Final round 
Once the results of the first round are known, the participants selected for the final must record a new video of a solo flute repertoire of their choosing, with a maximum length of 12 minutes, and which includes at least one of the following pieces:
Sigfrid Karg-Elert – Chaconne
Eugène Bozza – Image
Jacques Ibert – Pièce
Arthur Honegger – Danse de la chèvre
In addition to one of the obligatory pieces indicated above, those selected may perform one or more pieces, separate movements are permitted, as well as arrangements or transcriptions, as long as the video does not last longer than a total of 12 minutes. 
This video must be recorded after the results of the first round are known and it must be added to the muvac.com profile for each participant before 24 May 2020 at 23:59 CET. Each contestant will be contacted to have the specific instructions for the presentation of the second video explained to them. 
The videos of the final round will be broadcast online on 31 May. When this broadcast is over, the names of the winners will be made public and the award ceremony will be held.
2. APPLICATION
Full Application should be done on the www.muvac.com web platform, and each participant must attach the following documents:
a coloured photo (portrait) of the contestant
a short personal biography (maximum 500 characters)
a copy or photograph of the Passport/ID Card in JPG or PDF format
a receipt of the bank transfer or a document which indicates the AFE membership number (e.g. a photo of the card or the sworn declaration of the member)
Each participant should attach a single video through a YouTube link (with the video unlisted) on their www.muvac.com profile. 
The video recording must meet the following requirements:
The video should be fixed-shot and in a horizontal format.
At the beginning of the recording, participants should introduce themselves, giving their first name, their surname, and the repertoire to be performed in the EUROFLUTE Solo Competition contest.
The performer’s instrument and hands must be correctly visible during the full 
video.
The recording should be carried out from the house of each participant. Check

The video must contain the presentation and the full requested repertoire in one 
single take, without cuts between either movements or pieces.
Manipulated or edited recordings will not be valid.
Videos which have previously been published will not be accepted.
Videos sent in may not be posted on social media sites until the competition is finished (31 May 2020 at 23:59).

Special prizes are cumulative and will be awarded by different sponsors. In addition, the Spanish Flute Society (AFE) reserves the right to increase the amount of the prizes or create new prizes where deemed appropriate. This information will be updated periodically on the website (www.euroflutecompetition.com) and on social media pages.
4. IMAGE RIGHTS
Participating flautists give all copyrights on social media platforms or other audio-visual media to the Spanish Flute Society – AFE (organiser of the EUROFLUTE Solo competition), as well as all activity related to the EUROFLUTE Solo competition. AFE reserves the right to use the recordings for promotional purposes or other uses which are deemed appropriate. These rights are transferred free of charge.
Participation in this competition implies the acceptance of all previously mentioned rules.
