The British Flute Society is Europe’s oldest flute organisation. Members receive a range of benefits including the well-respected quarterly journal, Pan.
We also run regular events for our members including the prestigious BFS-RAM Premier Flautist Series, with recent performances by Robert Dick, Emily Beynon, Trevor Wye, Gareth Davies and Andy Findon.
Our annual competitions for flute players under the age of 25 years are a great success, and the biennial BFS International Convention is highly regarded worldwide. In August 2016 the BFS is organising a London festival “Flutastique”, celebrating the fertile relationship between the French and English flute playing traditions, as well as William Bennett’s 80th birthday.
We seek to support players and teachers at a local level throughout the UK via are representatives.
The BFS president is William Bennett, and Sir James and Lady Galway are our Honorary Patrons.
