About

The European Flute Council (EFC) was established in 2015 to support sustainable, strategically important projects across Europe by fostering cooperation among national flute associations. Its work focuses particularly on educational and artistic development.
The EFC is governed by a board of six elected members from different European countries, acting in accordance with the EFC Constitution and the mandate of the annual EFC Conference.

Peter-Lukas Graf

The European Flute Council learned with great sadness of the passing of Peter-Lukas Graf, one of the most influential figures in the history of the flute in Europe and beyond.

An exceptional flutist, pedagogue, and thinker, Peter-Lukas Graf shaped generations of musicians through his artistry and his teaching. His contribution to flute pedagogy, notably through his writings and masterclasses, has had a lasting impact on professional training and artistic reflection throughout Europe.

Beyond his remarkable musical stature, Peter-Lukas Graf was deeply respected for his humanity. Known for his intellectual clarity, integrity, and quiet authority, he embodied values of rigor, respect, and responsibility that continue to inspire the international flute community.

The European Flute Council pays tribute to a musician whose legacy transcends borders and schools, and whose influence will remain alive in the work of countless flutists, teachers, and institutions.

Our thoughts are with his family, his students, and all those who were touched by his life and work.

– Nicola Gerrard, Pan Magazine

"The event was very successful. It combined excellent networking opportunities for flutists from different cultures, outstanding flute performances, and opportunities to reflect on some of the musical challenges related to ensemble playing and arranging for flute ensembles.

– Malcolm Pollock for Flöte Aktuell

"This was a highly enjoyable event which provided a great snapshot of European flute playing and activity. Look out for more events from the European Flute Council in the future.
